XML Shoppingfeeds

By utilizing XML shopping feeds, you can generate product listings and adverts across eCommerce channels.

The Chainbox XML Shoppingfeed conforms to Google specifications, and is tailored accordingly.

Contact your Chainbox developer to activated the feed, and determined level of development to ensure compatibility with your system's requirements.

Optional prefix to feednames

For Chainbox versions newer than 5.2.18, it is possible to add a prefix to the shoppingfeed to keep the feed access unique. This will require assistance from a Chainbox developer.

Attribute specific details

Are variant products included in feed?

Variant products are included in the xml feed, but parent products are not.

A parent product is defined by field with attribute code "variant-is-parent" set to "yes".

Long descriptions in feed

Long descriptions are included in the feed.

Note however; when working with variants, long descriptions are commonly only added to the parent product in PIM, since only these will default be visible in the webshop, and as mentioned above, parents are not included in the xml feed.

To have long descriptions on variants in the feed, the description needs to be copied to and maintained on both the Parent and the variants in PIM.

Product availability

The availability of a product is determined by field with attribute code "stock-value", setting off a boolean check; If value exists, XML feed is set to "In stock" of not, then value is set to "Out of stock".

Products in backorder

If availability is part of the Google feed, Chainbox also support showing products in backorder if product is not in stock. This requires two attribute fields in PIM:

  • Boolean field with id code: "backorder"

  • Date field with id code: "availability-date"

These two fields are likely coming from your ERP-system, and if so, should be mapped to ERP in PIM. It is also optional not to mappe to ERP, in this case, create the two fields without the mapping, and maintain manually in PIM if product is in backorder (yes/no) and a potential availability date.

It is important that code and datatype are set as described below for the feed to work as expected.
