If you have more than one category root - would be the case if your PIM system is linked to more than one webshop each with its own products - you can switch between the category roots in the view.
Click the arrow to the right of the category root and choose from the dropdown menu.
If slider is enabled and you click on a category with subcategories, the view will contain products from the marked category as well as products in the categories below.
If disabled it will only return products that are in this actual category.
This icon remains hidden until hovering over it. If enabled, you get the option to click and choose specific categories (multiple). Please ensure that you are aware of the settings in "Include descendant categories" as described above, since it may affect the number of products showing as a result of your filtering.
