It is an option to upload a large number of categories instead of creating them individually under "Categories".
Required file format is CSV UTF-8 (semicolon separated), and if headings for each column matches the fieldnames to import, then mapping will be suggested automatically. If not the user will be prompted to map each field individually.
Default list separator is semicolon, but other separators can be chosen during import, but must match the file.
If in doubt what the attribute codes are, exporting the current categories with same fields as the intended import will supply the answer.
Save the created import file as CSV UTF-8 (semicolon separated).
then click upload file.
Drag and drop the CSV file into the upload area and click "Upload".
Before again clicking upload, check that each field in your file marked as "Included" is also mapped to the correct corresponding field in PIM. If not click the edit icon in the mapping column and choose correct field.
Also change the setting Allow create/Allow update. If you are only amending existing categories, then only "Allow update". If you are importing new categories then only "Allow create".
When satisfied with the settings click "Import".
Check again that data looks correct, and the changes match your desired action before clicking "Confirm import".
Finally go to Categories to check the result and add details e.g. images if required.
