Under category hierarchies, existing hierarchies are displayed, with the number of categories in each.

Click "Create hierarchy" to create new, enter Label, code, and choose icon and color. Click Save when done.

Linking a language node in Umbraco to a category hierarchy

The category hierarchy is what is most often set as category root on the language node in Umbraco. But in reality Umbraco is not limited to that. The category root on a language node, can start anywhere in a category tree structure.
